General Questions

Where is Jeju Violin Festival held? 

The residential program will be held at Springdale CC in Seogwipo, Jeju. The resort is located near the Halla trail and cypress forest. Each room has two single beds, TV, mini-fridge, dryer, towels, sink and electric cooktop. 

Who is organizing Jeju Violin Festival? 

GATI (Gifted And Talented Institute) Global organizes global high-impact summer programs for gifted and talented students. GATI organizes and operates programs in association with Stanford University and University of California, Irvine. This year, GATI is excited to launch the first violin festival with master teachers, who are passionate about the next generation of musical talents. 

Application Process 

When is the application deadline? 

For you to be considered for scholarship, you must apply by 11:59 pm, June 30th (PDT). Early application is encouraged for application fee for $60 is waived until 11:59 pm, April 30th (PDT). We will continue to welcome applications after June 30th as space permits. 

When will I receive my admission decision?

If you apply by April 30th (Round 1), you will hear your admission decision by May 1st. If you apply after May (Round 2), you'll hear the decision in 7 business days. Those who do not get admitted in the Round 1will automatically get deferred to Round 2.

 

Tuition / Scholarships 

How much does the program cost and what is covered?

The residential program costs $2,000 and it covers room, meals on site, and all instructional classes (private lessons, studio classes, and masterclasses). This does not cover airfare, transportation to/from airport, travel/medical insurance, and leisure/sightseeing activities.  

How do I qualify for scholarship?

The master teachers and judges will select the recipients of our merit scholarship based on their performance video that they submit on the application. 

Participant Life

What is the minimum age to attend the program? 

There are no age limits, but participants who are younger than 13 can room with a parent /guardian during the program. The accompanying person will have to pay additional $500 for room and board. 

Can I commute? 

It is encouraged for all participants to stay on site to take full advantage of the program (networking with friends and teachers, intensive practice, better flow of schedule). However, if you are a resident in Jeju, you can opt out of the housing option and have $400 room fee waived).

Travel to Jeju

How do I book my flight? 

If you are traveling from the US or Europe, then you can book an international flight to Incheon International airport (ICN) and transfer to a domestic flight from Gimpo airport (GMP) to Jeju International Airport (CJU). Please allow yourself about 3 hours to move from ICN to GMP. 

If you are traveling from China, Japan, Hong Kong, or nearby Asian countries, you can book a direct international flight to Jeju International Airport (CJU). 

How do I get to the program site? 

Once you arrive at the Jeju International Airport, you can take a taxi to Spingdale CC in Namwon or our shuttle ride at 9am from Jeju Airport .
